OBX Jeep Mutiny 2026: Schedule, Registration, and Visitor Guide
The sixth annual OBX Jeep Mutiny takes over the Outer Banks September 18-19, 2026, bringing Jeep owners, custom builds, vendors, and coastal driving experiences together at the Soundside Event Site in Nags Head.
The main festival runs Friday and Saturday, but the weekend begins early with a pirate-themed kickoff party and packet pickup on Thursday, September 17, in Kill Devil Hills. From trail rides to Saturday evening's Lighthouse-to-Lighthouse Toy Run, the schedule reaches beyond the main event field and across a wide stretch of the Outer Banks.
The Weekend Starts Thursday Night
The kickoff party is scheduled for Thursday evening at Jolly Roger Restaurant & Bar in Kill Devil Hills. The family-friendly gathering includes packet pickup, food, drinks, live music, and a pirate costume contest with adult and child categories.
Pre-registered drivers can collect windshield decals, wristbands, and other event materials before Friday's activities begin.
Friday Combines Driving and Festival Events
Friday starts early with an Alligator River National Wildlife Refuge trail ride and the ticketed Kitty Hawk Krawl beach crawl. Both include designated meetup locations and driver safety briefings.
The Soundside Event Site at 6800 South Croatan Highway opens at 10 a.m. Friday. The official schedule includes vendors, on-site activities, an introductory off-roading clinic, Blackbeard's Run, music, raffles, and prize announcements. The main site closes at 6 p.m., followed by an evening after-party and light competition in Kitty Hawk.
Some driving experiences and competitions require separate add-ons, and capacity is limited. Confirm availability through the organizer rather than expecting to purchase every activity on arrival.
Saturday Brings the Show & Shine and Toy Run
Saturday begins with another trail ride and beach crawl before the Soundside Event Site reopens at 10 a.m.
The Show & Shine competition gives attendees a close look at customized, vintage, clean, dirty, and off-road-ready Jeeps. Vendor Bingo, a winch-and-recovery clinic, music, food concessions, raffles, and voting continue through the afternoon. The main event concludes at 4 p.m.
Saturday evening's Lighthouse-to-Lighthouse Toy Run & Ride travels along N.C. Highway 12 from Bodie Island Lighthouse to Cape Hatteras Lighthouse. The ride does not require a fee or separate registration, and participants are encouraged to bring a new, unopened toy for children in coastal communities. Verify the final gathering and departure time on the official schedule before heading to the lighthouse.
Do You Need a Jeep to Attend?
No. Walk-in visitors can explore the vendors and public areas without registering a Jeep, although organizers request a charitable contribution at the registration tent.
Owners who want to park a Jeep in the main event field need event registration. The currently listed $65 registration includes one vehicle-access decal and as many as four attendee wristbands. Competition and beach-crawl entries are separate.
The Soundside site permits chairs and canopies, but stakes that penetrate the turf are prohibited; weighted anchors are recommended because the waterfront can be windy. Alcohol is not allowed at the event site. Leashed, non-aggressive pets are permitted under the event's published rules.
An Event with a Local Mission
OBX Jeep Mutiny is organized as a fundraising event by a volunteer team. The organization says net proceeds are distributed to local charities and community organizations.
