Things to Do on the Outer Banks For Monday March 16th
Good morning from the Outer Banks, where even a gray sky can’t take away the charm of a coastal day. This kind of Monday is perfect for easing into the week with a warm breakfast, a good lunch special, maybe a little local shopping, and plans that stay flexible enough to dodge a shower or two. Whether you’re here for a few days or lucky enough to call the OBX home, there’s still plenty of fun to be found between the clouds.
Today’s Weather
It’s a warm and unsettled day across the Outer Banks, with cloudy skies, mild temperatures, and the chance for showers and thunderstorms as the day goes on. It’s the sort of weather that calls for keeping an eye on the sky and maybe making your beach walk the “if the weather holds” part of the plan. Breezy conditions and periods of rain could make for a dramatic coastal backdrop, but there is still plenty of room in the day for a good meal, a local outing, and a cozy evening.
Sunrise, Water, and Weather Notes
The sun came up over the Outer Banks this morning with another beautiful start to the day, even if the clouds tried to steal some of the spotlight.
Ocean water is still on the chilly side, so this is more of a “toes in the sand” day than an all-out swim day for most people. With changing conditions possible, it’s a good day to check the latest forecast before heading out, especially if your plans take you near the beach, sound, or open water.
National Artichoke Hearts Day
Today is National Artichoke Hearts Day, which is funny because artichokes are one of those foods people either absolutely love or avoid like they’ve been personally offended by them.
The good news is that on the Outer Banks, nobody has to suffer through a food they don’t like. With so many great local restaurants, cafés, grills, sandwich spots, and seafood favorites, you’re in luck whether you are an artichoke fan or firmly on team “no thanks.”
So if artichoke hearts are your thing, today might be the perfect excuse to order something a little different. And if not, the OBX restaurant scene has more than enough comfort food, fresh seafood, hearty sandwiches, and house specials to make National Artichoke Hearts Day feel like just another great reason to go out to eat.

The countdown is on, and every Outer Banks local knows that once summer momentum kicks in, the calendar starts moving fast. So yes, there’s time left… but maybe not as much as you think.
