Things to Do on the OBX for January 11th 2025
Today, the Outer Banks will experience mostly cloudy skies with a high near 43°F (6°C) and a low around 31°F (-1°C). Early this morning, there is a chance of brief showers, and a Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 3:00 AM EST.
This advisory warns of potential snow and ice accumulations, which could make roads, especially bridges and overpasses, slick and hazardous. Please exercise caution when traveling. The Atlantic Ocean's water temperature is approximately 51.8°F (11°C), making it a chilly but pleasant day for beach walks and outdoor exploration.
On National Milk Day, we celebrate the agricultural resilience of the Outer Banks. Despite the challenges of sandy soils and a maritime climate, early settlers adapted with innovative practices, focusing on livestock and small-scale farming to support their communities. Today, local farms continue to provide fresh produce, family-friendly activities, and insight into the region’s agricultural heritage.
