Anniversary of the Miracle on the Hudson
On January 15, 2009, US Airways Flight 1549 made an emergency landing on the Hudson River after both engines were disabled following a bird strike. Captain Chesley "Sully" Sullenberger and First Officer Jeffrey Skiles successfully ditched the aircraft in the river, and all 155 passengers and crew survived. This event, known as the "Miracle on the Hudson," is celebrated for the crew's skill and composure under pressure, and it serves as a testament to effective aviation training and emergency preparedness.
